Common questions about savings accounts

The interest you earn on personal savings accounts varies based on market conditions and the current rate will appear on your quarterly statement. The interest you earn on CDs, IRAs and Coverdell Education Savings accounts is a fixed rate established at the time the account is opened through maturity based on the term you select.

We make it easy and convenient for you to get cash out of your personal savings account, so there are no limits on the number of withdrawals you can make. Of course, do not withdraw more money than you have in the account to avoid being charged a fee. Withdrawals from CDs, IRAs and Coverdell Education Savings accounts are subject to certain conditions and penalties for early or ineligible withdrawals may apply.

With personal savings accounts, your funds can be accessed at any time. Your account comes with a Debit Mastercard® you can use online and in person to pay for purchases anywhere Mastercard® is accepted and at Ocean Bank and Publix Presto! ATMs. You can also transfer money from your Ocean savings account to your Ocean checking account online or in the mobile app.

CDs, IRAs and Coverdell Education Savings accounts are designed to be long-term investments, but your funds are available to you, should you need them. Early withdrawal penalties may apply.

Ocean savings accounts are FDIC-insured up to the $250,000 maximum per depositor, per ownership category.

For example, if you are the only account holder, your account is FDIC-insured up to $250,000. If you and another person are account holders on the same account, you each receive $250,000 in coverage for a total of $500,000 in coverage on the account. FDIC insurance protects your deposits in the event of a bank failure.
